PROJECT
OBJECTIVE
The goal of the project is development
of concept of a new telemedic system for
fetal monitoring employing a novel
method of evaluation of the risks to
life and health of a foetus, relying
upon probability assessment of
membership of an examined
cardiotocographic record to the
predefined class of correct records.
Functionality of
the elaborated concept will be verified
in a prototype system con-sisting of
mobile monitoring devices, main server
at the surveillance centre, links and
communication networks as well as
specialist software for analysis and
inter-pretation of cardiotocographic
records. In assumption, the system built
according to the results of the research
should be able to interpret all
quantitative parameters of acquired CTG
traces, determined by computer-aided
analysis, and convert them into
quantitative information supporting
effectively the obstetrician in decision
making process.
Application of
results of the proposed solution besides
expected economical benefits to
obstetrical hospitals and improvement of
patient comfort, may influence the
de-tectability and enhance chances for
survival of the child with symptoms of
intrau-terine fetal hypoxia. Improvement
of effectiveness of the accessible
diagnostic methods seems to be very
important, especially in the context of
gradual worsening of ecological
conditions for human life and more and
more late decision making on maternity,
what becomes typical for highly
developed societies. Consequently, these
conditions make that the term "high-risk
pregnancy" refers to larger and lar-ger
group of pregnant women.
